1999 Strategic Plan of Recommended Capital Outlay, Operation & Maintenance Project for the Tennessee & Cumberland Rivers

On an annual basis, the Tennessee River Valley Association (TRVA) and its Tennessee-Cumberland Waterways Council (TCWC) present to the Tennessee Valley Authority, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Coast Guard a strategic plan of recommendations and suggestions for capital outlay, operations and maintenance projects for the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers.  TRVA/TCWC and the towing industry users are pleased that recommendations and suggestions are solicited and its input is presented to the federal agencies at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Nashville District's Semi-Annual Navigation meeting in March each year.  The three agencies combined response is presented in return to the navigation industry at the TRVA/TCWC annual meeting each October.

Contained in this strategic report is a listing of top priority and long range projects; continuing capital issues; current issues requiring further action; past issues requiring further action; and new issues.  Also discussed are issues such as lock projects; bridge replacements; dredgework; marine safety issues; bendway modifications; and other issues which impact the current and future operation of the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers.
